Archive for December, 2010

This year I ordered a number of gifts online and they arrived at my apartment in Baltimore after I left to spend the holiday in North Carolina. I enjoy wrapping gifts so I was happy to wrap more gifts. In the magazine Whole Living, there were instructions on how to make a bow. I made a bow for some of the presents.

I first cut three 11 inch strips, then I cut 3 9 inch strips. Lastly I cut one 3 inch strip.

Décor Ideas While Traveling

I went to the Biltmore Estate with my hubby and two friends. We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast called “A Bed of Roses” in Asheville, NC. It was quaint and the décor was adorable. It was my hubby’s first time staying in a Bed and Breakfast so it took him a little time to get accustomed to. I preferred the Bed and Breakfast because hotels aren’t as personal.  As another guest noted, although everything did not match, the décor fit together perfectly. I hope to one day decorate using a number of decorative objects that are contemporary and vintage. Happy Holidays!

Ummmmm Evergreen!

The Tree!

I am so excited that we got a fresh evergreen last night from Eastern Market! It smells great and I love the natural look of a fresh Christmas tree!

I would add more photos but WordPress isn’t allowing me. I so enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree! Mini twin took her decorating very seriously and helped me put the ornaments on the tree. It was lots of fun!

A Star Is Born!

I finally bought a pink star to put on the little Christmas tree. I was fortunate that Michael’s craft store had Holiday decorations on sale for 50% off. I also bought these small pink ball ornaments. I put them in two flower vases. Although we don’t have many decorations in our apartment these simple decorations add a nice Holiday decorative touch to our apartment.

I love how they decorated the lobby and entertainment spaces at the apartment building where I live, The Fitzgerald. The ornaments on the Christmas tree are oversized and they look great given the size of the tree. There are also ornaments placed in wooden bowls and other areas that help to encourage holiday cheer!

Not only do I love decorating for Christmas, but so does Mini Twin! She (tried) to help me with the lights. We have a small space so I’ve used little things like Christmas ornaments and a yummy smelling candle from Surroundings (a nice flower shop in Capitol Hill) to decorate our space. I am also awaiting a wreath and poinsettia that I ordered from my daughter’s fundraiser.

My table makes me happy! I like cooking and having tasty meals with my family, especially during the cold weather… Burr…  Its great to cozy up and have a nice meal!

It can be a challenge to decorate a small space but small spaces end up being warm and cozy. Happy decorating!
