Pink + Blue

Twin 1 decided to add a little more color to the apartment. I chose bold fun colors such as pink and blue. Honestly, I did not know this blue would turn out Carolina-Blue(ish) but it’s ok. If it were any lighter I would seriously have to repaint. I first painted the inside of the doorway pink. After letting the paint dry I painted the outside blue. I love these colors!

I hung these pictures as a simple decor project that brightens up the door entrance.

I’m sure my niece and nephews will enjoy the apartment when they visit. It’s very kid friendly in appearance 😉

This view gives you a better view of the study. I enjoyed this quick and fun painting project!

Twin 1 is trying to go vegan so decided to try this vegan avocado chocolate cake recipe found on  Joy the Baker’s website http://joythebaker.com/2009/07/vegan-chocolate-avocado-cake/

The cake was absolutely delicious. You can still see chunks of avocado in my icing however that did not affect the flavor.

Vegan avocado chocolate cake straight out of the oven!

Yes the icing contains avocado as well!!! I couldn’t stop tasting it. It was delicious!

Yeah I know-my icing is a bit lumpy. The next time I will spend more time mashing the avocado. However don’t let the lumpiness fool you-the cake was delicious!

My first slice….. I also had a second. 😉

More decorating!!

I decided to do more decorating while Twin 2 was in town!

My beautiful nephew and niece (mini Twin)!

I bought these pre-cut pendants from Michael’s and hung them on ribbon. Mini Twin helped me organize them. This was a quick and easy decorating project!

Mini Twin, Twin 2, and Twin 1- I really enjoyed their visit!

Studying in Style!

I finally decided to finish decorating the study room! I love yellow so I have bursts of yellow in different areas. I have one more paper lantern to hang.

I have a lot of framed records so I’m trying to figure out where to put them all.

A Few Updates

In May I bought fabric from Ikea. I finally decided to put the fabric on stretchers and hang it! I love the bright fun colors. The wall still looks like I can add more to it so I’m thinking about paint on the adjacent wall.

I bought fresh flowers to liven up the place!

I bought the yellow salt and pepper shakers in Liberdade, a Japanese neighborhood in Sao Paulo. They are simple and compact. I like the modern look.

Kids Decor

I found this cute print of a bear and thought it would be cute close to little Bear’s crib. It is so life-like. He really likes the print and smiled at it. 🙂

Here is my girl cub’s dresser. She has a glowing gummy bear! Here is the other cub’s dresser. He also has a gummy bear night light.

Here is a kid-sized towel rack. It’s a pretty blue apple. I was tempted to keep this for myself! LOL

This pic is a little fuzzy, but it gives you the idea. I like a personalized photo of my daughter that is in the kid’s bathroom. I will also put one of my son in there.

Twin 1 is doing research in Rio de Janeiro and staying at a friend’s place. I can see Jesus Cristo de Redentor from the apartment. There are great clothing stores, restaurants, and cafes in this area. I’m staying in Copacabana and am enjoying morning jogs along the beach!

This is a small eating area that is a shared space with the study and living area. I decided to spruce it up a little.

I bought a little flower at a grocery store (Pao de Acucar) across the street , a chair seat, and a dishrag from a home and kitchen store. My additions are simple but add some cheer to the place!
